Very nice and the way that cage was made and dimensions will be very helpful to other people that don't have one.

do you think that there will be a market for reproductions? I mean... I already arranged in the past to have reproductions of very odd parts during my Ford GP restoration... it wasn't a matter of "making profit"... it was just a very small runs of parts made by my very good friend Paolo Batisti... something done only in view of making available parts for fellow restorers...
in this case, I can ask him to produce and sell repros of this item... according to the request if any.

how many K-38's are here around? ... I know that basically none of them has this cage available...

problem could be that - according to manual drawings - this cage I have is a "Highway Trailer Co." model... the one pictured on the manual might be slightly different...
true is that owning a perfect reproduction of this one is better than nothing... 8)

your thoughts?

I don't know if there is a market. I believe Gordon M had to make one so he may be better to answer that. Robin and Tractor 12 have a lot more knowledge of those.

I would probably be interested in the cage, but, problem will be shipping from Europe.

Dan

definetily not. you know, we have couriers here as well.

...ok, jokes apart, both Paolo and me we can access very convenient fedex rates... you could browse the prototype forum and have an idea of my level of service... I'm not a dealer, nor a reseller... I can do something for fellow restorers without any kind of profit, as I did in the past... and Paolo will probably do that only for the joy of making new "parts"...

so... now we just need to know if there's people interested... I will soon start another topic - as I did with the Converto trailer - to track all the owners worldwide...

I have a K38 restored and the only thing missing is the cage. Mine is a FWD manufacturer in 1943 and looks exactly like yours. Mine was a barn find and the interior was untouched. The original interior color of mine was silver.

I would like to see pictures of the bottom of the cage if you can post some. I would like to have a cage if anyone builds a repro? :D

My tires were Firestone 18 inch. Found reproduction tires and tubes at Universal Tire. You can see my restoration pictures here on this forum.

Good luck.

I know little about K-38's. Any provision for highway lighting during transport? backsink

Looking good. I take it you will paint the inside first as it is easier to remove overspray from the outside?

It really is all there, which is quite unusual. I noticed from the Parts List that all these trailers came with a Lantern Guard, though as far as I know only you and Jaap have originals. Looks like your guard wire mesh is similar to the mesh I used on my reproduction, rather than the Weasel exhaust cover mesh that is on the Parts List illustration.

It'll be good to see it finished.

well... not really... I mean... parts list says: (optional equipment, not supplied unless specified) ...that means that not all trailers came with the guard...

It'll be good to see it finished.
