Re: How to identify a Bantam T3-C Trailer
I have always wondered why military trailers did not have racks and bows, unless it was feared GI's would overload the trailer or forget to remove the racks and bows if having to go in low overhead areas while pulling with a Jeep.

Other than the aluminum serial number plate, is there another place to find the serial number?
I just picked up a TC3 trailer from an auction and it has had the aluminum plate removed.
I just unloaded it and can find no numbers except a number stamped into the landing leg casting, where the front frame comes together. That number is 8L55, which seems not to conform to any other number I can find.
It seems to be a later trailer, missing the rear reflectors and the trailer plug. It has the single light on the left side.
Photos in the near future!
Literally....I just unloaded it 20 minutes ago, need to do more looking at it.

No to anything except the tag. If you remove the tires for any reason look inside the rim for maker and date code. After first 2000 approx they were unchanged after that.

Sadly, tires and wheels not original. It has 15 inch wheels, stamped HK.
It is going to need some TLC, but pretty original, has the left tail light, back end pretty good. Needs spring bushings and is missing safety chains, missing original hitch, missing end on wiring, and of course, missing data plate. That is going to be a problem getting it licensed here in Missouri, as it is showing no serial number.
Oh well, I Still have the trailer.

The only other way is if the trailer had 4 tie downs on the sides and tube supports at the rear vs the panel supports.Old Dodge Guy wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2019 12:00 pmOther than the aluminum serial number plate, is there another place to find the serial number?
These older trailers are made from left over T3 Military tubs and parts so most have an ACM number stamped under the left left front spring mount.
If your trailer does not have these two features then the data plate is the only identity.
