restoring of M422 No. 469

Post by Martin-K » Wed Oct 12, 2016 10:30 pm

Hello!

Just started the restoration of M422 serial number 469. The first step is dismantling the whole vehicle to see what is missing or damaged. It`s more than I expected. For example: All pivot pin bushings are worn out. Hope there are replacements available. And there is a lot of rust in the transfer case.

Some pictures from the dismantling process:

Martin,

Looks like a very solid vehicle to restore, it is good to see pictures of yet another eager Mighty Mite owner preserving history. The small Mighty Mite community knows that it can be difficult to get parts in the USA for this machine. Doing a Mighty Mite restoration in Austria is a completely different ball game! Please keep the pictures coming!

Most of these mites were deepforded in salt water, verybad thing ,sometimes it takes years for the results to be seen. Both of my mites had unseen problems, light recepticals ,wiring problems, rivets being eaten up.

Always liked the engineering on the Mites.
Looks like a nice platform to start with.
I will be watching this thread.
