Rear Seat Question

My 422 had rear seats in it when I got it. I have never seen seats like this. Does anyone know anything about these?

Tom Price has two Mites with the tailgate mounted seats (although his look different than yours). I have only seen that style on short wheelbase model, but maybe Brian will chime in with some more info.
Maybe that's actually a mount for an on-board bagel warmer or cappuccino machine.

I've never seen any reference to seats like the one in the picture Jim posted. They look like they're made to slip over the top of the tailgate. Are they made of aluminum? Can you post a larger photo? Dimensions? Thanks!
