Temperature Gauge Needed
All: I need a Stewart-Warner Water Temperature Gauge 120-240 NOS to complete my M-151 panel. It currently has after market in it. The tip of the indicator must end in a flat tip and not a needle point. Connectors are rubber on the back. What say ye out their? Thanks. Kevin.

Re: Temperature Gauge Needed
First: George thanks for the links, but they are not SW gauges. They are aftermarket. Those gauges cannot duplicate a manufacturers information as it would be a trademark violation.
Artillerydan: Gotta make sure my stuff is right if I am going to mark up other peoples MUTT's. Take care. Kevin.

Re: Temperature Gauge Needed
I certainly hope you are not going to become one of those judges like the WWII judges! "Well you lose points because the flats on the battery bolt are not in the right position" I hate that kind of stuff and for years the 151 people prided themselves on real world judging. These are NOT concours vehicles!!!

Re: Temperature Gauge Needed
Well Rick, I judged a 1962 MUTT, but my gasoline detector kit determined that the gas could not be from 1962. My kit showed it could not have been made before 1983. I overlooked it this time, but gave him a warning slip! Don't worry, all will be well when I judge. If you have time to do all this posting, go out to the garage and see if you have a temp gauge! Kevin.

Re: Temperature Gauge Needed
I should have the SW Temp Gauges like you need, appear NOS or NOS T.O. will check. One thing I have discovered is that NOS AC and SW 24V Temp gauges go bad from age while sitting and doing nothing.

Thanks, Please let me know. A reminder that the tip of the needle is flat across and not to a point that they made later. All my other gauges are flat tipped. Kevin.

Re: Temperature Gauge Needed
And for all you would be expert 24 Volt M-Series owners having Temperature Gauge issues, there are two different Temperature Ranges on Temperature Gauges. The Post M-37, M-38, M-38A1, M-35 etc. made starting early 60's had Temperature gauges with a 120F-240F range, the older 50's M-Series 24 Volt Trucks had Gauges with a 60F-260F Range. These Gauges are sender specific and require a sender that matches the gauge numbers. The TM gives the ORD Part Number for the Gauge and the ORD Part Number for the Sender, they have to be correct or the gauge will not be correct.
Best to take coordinate the sender and gauge ORD numbers when looking for gauges.

Re: Temperature Gauge Needed
Ben. Have not assembled the panel yet with all the sw gauges. I will put the new gauges in, paint and put in as a whole panel and see what works. I am in Portland Indiana at a show this weekend. Will work on the panel next week. Kevin.

Re: Temperature Gauge Needed
I stumbled into another NOS, same gauge a the NOS I sent except the seal may still be intact. Bezel is 24087. NOS 50 year old M-Series instruments are a 50-50 crap shot, especially the temperature gauges.
We all prefer AC and SW, but the plastic housed FARIA are more reliable. A shelf life of even 20 years is for AC and SW too much to expect.
