What's with the parts from Thailand?

Post by Gary Turman » Tue Dec 12, 2017 2:36 pm

I see a lot of parts from Thailand on e-bay. Are they any good? I know the light switch isn't. I got one and it broke the first day I had it.

I believe they are reproducing the stuff like China. I got a set of brake hoses from the same outfit . Looked like NOS but the rear hoses were a 1 -1/4"longer than my originals and rubbed on the A-arms real bad so I contacted them and he said he would contact the factory ,then said factory says they are correct, sent him pictures of the different lengths and got him on that and my money was refunded. That was a 3-4 week process but he did follow through. Printing on the hoses was not U.S. DOT stamped. Their on the shelf now. Got me again. Tried to save $20.00 and the hassle just wasn't wroth it. I thought it was U.S. surplus over there . Wrong. BUY from U.S. suppliers and ask if it's made in China or Taiwan before you buy. Pay a little more for the real deal for you will end up buying the stuff twice when you can't send the junk back. Time you pay for return shipping to get rid of the junk you could have bought the real deal. Been there . Just cost a little bit more to go first class.

Gary, i was in Thailand three years ago, i noticed a couple of CJ jeeps and a fair few M151s out there. So obviously there is a need for parts in that neck of the woods. I dont know what quality they are though. :?:

The problem is that the original stuff has dried up. It does not last forever so you get what people will pay for. They want cheap prices so you get cheap parts and as long as people keep buying the junk they will keep making it. Supply and demand. Or I should say demand and supply.
