SOLD***196? Marine Corps Radio M151a1 For Sale

Post by TNYankee » Wed Nov 11, 2015 6:43 am

*edit-new price* Gents,
I have for sale an M151a1 mutt. It is marked as a USMC radio jeep. The body is rough, and was definitely a re-weld. Has a ton of good suspension and drive line parts. Most everything is there except a back seat. Has an early knob adjustable front drivers seat. The man I got it from said it was running last year but the transmission seems to be stuck in gear so I can't try to turn the engine yet. I pulled the valve cover and everything looks good and moves freely in the top. I was going to use this as a parts jeep, but I'd rather just keep it all together and sell it as a whole. Please see the pics, and let me know if you have any questions. You can PM me anytime and I will get back to you ASAP. I am located in Chattanooga TN. Asking $800. Thanks!

I don't think that was a Marine Corps 151, No rear lifting shackles or Marine front bumper. No fording valve either. These are all things that would be on a Marine unit. The Navy department plate makes me think it was a Naval Forces vehicle. Not too many of them around. Joe from Delaware hopefully will chime in on this one since he has a Navy Mutt.

On edit, after looking closely at the data plate I do see the Marine Corps on there. That is odd to see that without all of the associated equipment. I know the Marines were known to "Acquire" vehicles occasionally from the Army. But those did not have the data pates on them, as a matter of fact I believe the data plates were known to disappear. It is also possible that a really smart Marine swapped the data plate from a crashed vehicle to the "Aquired" one. Of coarse we all know that would never happen.

It's definitely an odd bird. If not for the markings I would think army.

I think that might be an M151. Look at the rear panel above the right rear tail light. There doesn't appear to be that small recess for the B/O rear marker light......
