Re: M151A2 Steering Wheel for Sale
The government did not Restore steering wheels. They threw out the bad one and put on a brand new one. Someone may have restored it but not the government.

Re: M151A2 Steering Wheel for Sale
HI Rickf,
Maybe restored wasn't the right word to use. The guy I bought it from many years ago mentioned it was better than a takeoff and yet not NOS so he mentioned something about Govt. improvement/reconditioning or something of that nature. It has been many years since that conversation. It is a nice steering wheel none the less. By the way we did do improvements to our motor-pool vehicles often because we didn't have the luxury of tossing parts out (dx-ing) if they were still in good shape. Perhaps it had been on a M151A2 but replaced when a new one became available?

Rick, No so quick.
FLMV years ago sold govt refurbished wheels for a good price.
The cracks were filled and the wheel repainted.
Had no reason to doubt Jeff at the time when he described them as govt rebuild
Had that wheel for some time and then sold it when I found a NOS one .

Re: M151A2 Steering Wheel for Sale
I could see motor pool mechanics replacing a not so bad wheel with a new one if given the chance to make an officers vehicle look better and then tossing the fairly good wheel back in the parts bin.
Fil, I would have to see a work order before I would believe the military spent time repairing steering wheels. It was common practice to fill cracks in steering wheels with JB Weld and smooth them out and repaint them for restorations but I don't think I would believe they did that in the service on a regular basis. Except maybe for the same reason as mentioned above.

Go to Flmv site and look up A2 steering wheels and you will see a listing for govt rebuilt units .
I bought one and have no reason to believe that they werent as described by Jeff.

Re: M151A2 Steering Wheel for Sale
Not saying Jeff is not selling them but I know Jeff. He is the ultimate salesman. I bought one of the "last" full underbody repair kits a few years ago from him. 400.00. Then all of a sudden he had a s**t load of them for substantially less after the "last" ones stopped selling at that price. In the surplus business you do what you need to do for the sale. You sell parts, you know that as well as anyone. It doesn't really matter, if it looks and feels new then who is to say it isn't new? And it does not matter who restored it as long as it looks good.
And before JB Weld was around we used PC-7, how many of you remember that stuff?

Re: M151A2 Steering Wheel for Sale
WHO IS JEFF?
My name is Olav and Olav is the one trying to sell parts for a restoration of another vehicle. I don't mind if someone has a concern about the description of the part I am trying to sell, but I do mind when someone accuses me of being someone else with a bad reputation. I have one steering wheel to sell and that is it.

Re: M151A2 Steering Wheel for Sale
Easy there Olav! Nobody is accusing you of anything nor am I accusing Jeff of anything. Jeff is the owner of Frontline military vehicle sales. If you would read what I said instead of blowing off you would see that I was not accusing but agreeing. You must not be used to these M-151 threads, they tend to wander. I am sorry if I mislead you or gave you the impression that I was accusing you of anything.

Re: M151A2 Steering Wheel for Sale
I also bought one of the so called gov rebuild steering wheel from jeff at front line couple years ago
when I got the wheel the look of it was rough usable but not that good I did not want to return the item
would of cost me 15 to 20 buck's to shipped back so I did like phil when I found a new one I sold the rebuild for less of what I pay for
Frenchman
p.s pay 200dollars for a n.o.s from walker auto parts

Sure do remember PC-7. The display in hardware stores with the A-Treat bottle with red colored water inside with a golf ball glued on top and all kinds of other stuff glued to the bottle.Rickf wrote:And before JB Weld was around we used PC-7, how many of you remember that stuff?
A-Treat is gone but PC-7 is still made in Allentown, PA.

Re: M151A2 Steering Wheel for Sale
I think maybe we ought to stop all comments on this thread and just let Olav sell his steering wheel. He got VERY upset a few posts back and that is not what I nor anyone else wanted.
