Cover for mule deck
The magnesium deck of our M274A2 is in rough shape in spots, with a few holes that will need to be patched with something, maybe sheet metal. To have a finished look and avoid sharp edges of patches, I'm thinking of something to cover the whole deck. Has anyone had experience with covering a Mule deck with a rubber pad or something similar? Any suggestions for sources?

I use a heavy rubber horse stall mat from Tractor Supply. Catch them on sale sometimes for around $30. Cut with a saber saw.

Chuck, thanks! That looks like what we are looking for. Do you remember the size before cutting? I see a 4'x6' mat on the TSC website.

yes, it is 4' x 6', won't cover the entire bed, but it's 3/4" thick and really tough. I think they also have some 3/8" thick x 4' wide rubber matting that is sold by the foot, if you want to cover the entire deck, would cost about $65.00 and you'd have to be careful that it didn't blow off when moving the mule on a trailer at highway speed.

Noted, thanks again. Is your mat secured to the mule bed?

No, just laying on the deck. When traveling, I tie the mule down with two straps across the deck, which hold the mat down.
