Front belt pulley on M274 Army Mule

Post by fred93 » Fri Nov 18, 2016 5:09 pm

I am working on a M274 Army Mule with a 2 cylinder engine. The engine has a pulley on the front and it looks like there is a generator under the pulley that might be used to recharge the battery. This engine is not the original-someone has changed it at some point. Please look at pictures to what this pulley looks like.

Does anyone have info on the pulley/generator that is on this engine?

Just done my engine have to just use block assy. You must remove all Genset parts & move all mule parts over.
This was my 1st engine change over not to bad just need all m274 mule parts. front pulley, cam cover all oil lines.

That is the alternator stator/pulley assembly that is used on the 5KW gen-set version of the 2AO42-3 engine. Most people remove them, along with the timing gear cover, and replace with the cover and pulley that is used on the mule version of this engine. I am not sure if the gen-set pulley will allow the belt to align correctly with the blower drive pulley

If the blower belt lines up stay with your set up. I have the rest of the items to make your charging system work. They were taken off NOS engines I converted. Your pulley system does not have a key way so you will not know how to set the timing without the mule pulley or a degree wheel. Contact me either e-mail or PM
