Timing an AO42 Engine

Post by muleman7 » Mon Nov 07, 2016 7:12 pm

I used a Strobe Timing Light until I found this unit that allows you to time your engine with out it running. Great for rebuilt Engines or Magnetos prior to cranking.

Remove Spark Plugs. Rotate the engine CCW a little past 18 degrees but not enough to engage the impulse coupler then CW back to 18 degrees. Connect the Black Lead to ground and the Red Lead to the Condenser. Pull up on the Magneto until the Closed Light lites and then gently tap the Magneto down until the Open Light lites. Your done.

From Sky Geek it is the Action Air Parts LED51N Single Magneto Timing Light part# AA-62584 it has no audible tone. Priced $38.48
