70 year old vehicle lift

Post by USAFpj » Tue Feb 06, 2018 2:26 pm

I 'borrowed' this picture from Matt 'aka' Rustfarm, and caused me to wonder if anyone else has a homemade lift like this? This isn't the first time I've seen timbers used as an aerial platform; any other images out there?

Never saw one quite like that. Pretty creative. Looks like something Unca Bubba would do.
I do remember service pits. Some were inside dealerships and others, outside at service stations.
Instead of raising the vehicle, you lowered the mechanic.
First time in, in the morning, a good look around with a flashlight was a good idea. You never knew what you might find down there. For the outside ones, a good pair of galoshes was in order during the rainy season.
Do you think he shook the jeep before he went under ??

Army PM thrived on field expedients, nothing wrong with this one as long as the planks are anchored and the 55 Gallon Drums are not tipsy.
