Thanks for the info. I will look at these two and any others that people can suggest.
Any other suggestions for other ww2 battles?

Hi Daren,

Try this one, I read this one years ago. Charles B McDonald was at one time the Honorary President of the club that I was in. Sadly no longer with us :(

Hello,

A Time for Trumpets has to be the absolutely best, number 1 book
on the Battle of The Bulge , period !!!
I have a signed copy he gave my father.
Charles B. MacDonald wrote it, he fought it, and is one of the best
writers of WW2 History !

He also wrote The Mighty Endeavor , a book as good on WW2 Combat in the ETO !

The Men of Company K by Harold Leinbaugh
and John Campbell is also a great book on the Bulge !!

You can't go wrong with these, I would say that "A Time for Trumpets" should be made into the greatest WW2
Battle of the Bulge movie , ever !!!

Happy Reading,

Ray

Also ,
Not just about the Bulge but ....
I would also highly recommend Eisenhower"s
The Great Crusade, an incredible book ,
fascinating !!
I also liked Ike's " At Ease "
I recommend both to you !
In case you have not read it, read .... The Longest Day, by Cornelius Ryan, fantastic written true record of the D-Day Invasion !
Anything from him is fantastic, accurate and incredibly well written.

Enemy at the Gates - The Battle for Stalingrad by William Craig. You can't put it down.
Also, The 900 Days- The Siege of Leningrad by Harrison Salisbury, You can't put it down either !

Happy Reading !!!!

Ray

I will buy some of the books recommended.

Military historian Antony Beevor has written 'Ardennes 1944 – The Battle of the Bulge'. I haven't read this one myselfyet but I do have other books by this author, and those are very good.

Daren,
Just found another of Charles B's books at home. The Battle of the Huertgen Forest, if you want I can loan you it?
Before Charles died, a close friend of mine and he went back to the forest and did some digging around. I was not fortunte to meet the man.

Thanks Dave,
I have a few to keep me going for now, not a very quick reader, but I'll bear it in mind for later. Thanks for the offer
