Hi, a friend of mine is restoring a FORD GPW sn 18165. jeep hasn't the nomenclature plate (it was lost and a new modified one was put on it many years ago). So we don't now anything for a correct reproduction, in particularly the DOD.
From on internet studies we found informations (not verified by an original plate photo) about GPW 18179 DOD 4-13-42.
We have a plate photo of GPW 18054 DOD 4-22-42 probably (or surely) assembled in a different FORD Plant.
Could anybody help us to know exact or better DOD , the Assembly plant and other usefull informations? We are in Italy and probably this GPW 18165 was landed in Sicily or Anzio or..... In any case with allied forces during Italy's liberation 1943.
Thank you for your answers. Luke

Luke, welcome to the 'G'! I can't answer your questions directly, but reach out to Tom. He's got a database where he tracks GPW details and might be able to provide you more details on GPW18165. Good luck!
