Help breaking GPW 129353 frame down

Post by OldJeepBob » Fri Dec 08, 2017 4:43 pm

I have it in the garage and can get three wheels off, but not driver's side rear; only two lugs. It is left hand threads. I have used PB Blaster for several days, heat, broke one 3/4 socket. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks.

Have you tried a four end lug wrench ? it is a lot stronger then a socket, if you have to, use a large box end wrench as a cheater bar over the end of the four way lug wrench, two if necc.....has worked for me on hard to break lug nuts.....Just a thought.

Great suggestion, GI. I actually loved to the front today, after I could not get lugs off, and used the 4 way on some castle nuts. I will have a go back on the lugs in the morning. Looks like we may get 10" in Rabun County, so I will be here!

It is left hand threads.
Are you 100% sure on that?

My GPW had 3 corners of right hand threaded lug nuts and only 1 corner had left hand threaded lug nuts.

Just tossing it out.

I second that. My Oct ‘44 MB had one of the lefts replaced with a (GP marked) right. Best to clean the end of the stud to see if there is an R or an L on it.

Just offering a suggestion. Maybe you’ve already done that.

UPDATE: a local gunsmith told me about Kroil. Tapped the bolts and nuts, put on one drop; rinse and repeated three times, and they both came off with a 20" breaker bar!
Now I just need 8-10 left hand lug nuts!
