76 Years Ago Today

Post by sjalbert » Thu Dec 07, 2017 4:32 am

My father was asleep at Hickam Field as the Japanese Navy prepared to launch their planes.

We remember all the brave soldiers, sailors & airman of the greatest generation.

My father ( R.I.P.) had just enlisted in the Navy and spent the war in the South Pacific, in a PBY, looking for the Japanese.
To forgive is noble, but he never did and he never forgot.
Honor those that served and died and never forget them.
The lesson to remember is, the world is a dangerous place.
Stay on your toes and pay attention !!
After all these years, I look around. Different places with different names, but still the same.

"Before You Go" is offered as an expression of heartfelt gratitude to our aging veterans - those who fought and won the Second World War, fought in Korea to preserve that victory, and later in an unpopular war to stop post WWII communist aggression's in Vietnam.

my late father in law was a pearl harbor survivor, and spent the rest of the war island hopping.

The way dad's stories went, 199th.
The PBY didn't go back to Honolulu every night.
They hopped across and flew out of small Pacific islands.
Out before dawn and back at night, pulling guard duty on the beaches.
Places like Tinnian ? Probably didn't spell that right, and others I don't know how to spell either.
