I note you have an aeriel mount, and a machine gun, i dont think ww2 jeeps had both as it was too much equipment to lose in one hit. Have i opened another can of worms here guys ? :?:

There is an old saying about what happened to thought. Armored outfits had many Jeeps with MG's and radios.

Mirrors could be smeared with mud or turned inwards toward cowl in tactical operation.

Luckies had transtioned to a white pack by 1944, yes ? The ammo can on the cradle appears to be a post war type. The tires have a distinctly non-ww2 tread (at least the spare). The "S" is missing from the registration number.

FIRESTONE WWII NDT Tread, maybe?

The tires are Firestone WW-2 NDT tread.

Pretty rare to see a combat jeep in theatre with the side view mirror on.
I totally disagree.
Well, I've seen hundreds of pics, and I'd say about 10-20% had the mirror and most of those were behind the lines or at least not on the combat line kind of jeeps.
Saipan June 1944... a mirror! There were no behind the lines on an Island! What is pretty rare is to see that particular type of jeep.

If you did not have a side mirror I would say you need one!

GI., you have a nice jeep and no jeep is perfect so I would not get to excited unless you want to have your jeep judged! :D :D

Thank's Mark,
That's a great pic. of a GI shaving out of a helmet with his carbine near by. {Those have got to be Marines, alway's sharp]. :)
I don't plan on ever having my jeep judged, I just enjoy driving it to diff. car shows, talking to people about it, and doing parade's and Military display's etc. and I also enjoy tinkering with it in the garage, I don't think of it as work at all, and look forward to it.
Getting these diff. opinion's from those people here that really know their WW-2 jeep's is great, it help's me from having to look it up, and most of you guy's are really the WW-2 jeep expert's.
I will prob. correct some of the item's pointed out to make the jeep more correct, I would like it to 100% correct but know that will never happen.
But this forum is the place to come to if a person want's to learn the right way to build as close as possible that correct jeep.

I fully agree with Mark Tombleson, its a really nice jeep, we could all find faults with most jeeps on here but there are exceptions. Your jeep is still a headturner G.I. :D

Look we can go round and round showing pics of jeeps with and without mirrors. Here are a series of pics from The Battle of the Bulge.
Some jeeps have them, some do not

Two jeep pic, One has mirror, one pics shows two w/o

About half the jeeps have their mirrors and half don't. Looks like litter jeeps might need them removed, also if the jeeps get armored or covered looks like they take them off as well.
