Maybe his family staged an intervention for his OD/G503 addiction

I'm glad that he's well. The hobby is small enough that it needs all the help it can get.

I miss him too. he has been very generous to me with his knowledge and experience especially when I was new to the hobby.
why did he leave? Some folks mess with him relentlessly I wonder if that is it. i'm just glad he's in good health and its not that.

If we need to sign a petition to get him to return, I will put down my John Hancock.

You had to meet a motor pool Sgt. to understand. He is a classic fit. Not saying that is bad or good. Just the way it is.
Joel is a living, breathing Tech. Manual. Quite an accomplishment and a major attribute.
And it was a major plus for the "G".
If he chooses to go it will be a big loss to all on the site.
I bet he knows what the two clips on the top front corner of a radiator screen on a CJ are for.

Chuck -

You're just SO Sweet.

For years you ripped Ben time and again, criticizing him every time you "disagreed." Now - Shazzam! - you're on a Cyber-Honeymoon. Are you able to Grasp the concept that MAYBE Ben withdrew due to your impolite, Bully behavior?

And No - No "Bait." Even the Esteemed Moderators tossed you in the corner a time or two for your unpleasant responses towards Ben.

Disagreeing is one thing. Chronic, Condescending, unnecessarily-nasty behavior is another.

Like it was stated above, "Ben" has forgotten more than I know. I know that one of the best MV restorers in the country has turned to him on numerous occasions. Between his business and Army training he has been there done that. He has helped me out numerous times. His CCKW knowledge is legendary! Paul

Let the guy take a sabbatical if that's what he wants. Countless numbers of notable contributors have left the G for various reasons over the last 20 years...no threads about them? I know of one individual who is a true asset to the hobby who doesn't post here anymore (a true loss to g503.com!) because of accusations Joel made about him....so it's a two way street! I think that when valued contributors leave this site it is a loss for all of us. Point one finger at someone and three are pointing back at you! Frankly, there's no reason for any inflammatory remarks. We are all here to gain knowledge so we can accurately preserve and maintain our national treasures...some more so than others, but that's OK. Let's all play nice on the playground!

I have no ill will towards Joel and his post war vehicle knowledge and post war motor pool experience is not up for debate. I wish him well and good fortune.

Now.....back to restoring my g503's.
