My 1942 GPW is fitted with a dual pulley . I think but not sure that it could have been fitted with a compressor . It also has the inverted bell crank for the Braden winch . Bubba had destroyed the frame around the the bumper bracket area so all evidence of how the winch was fitted was gone . I was going to mark up the jeep as being allocated to the USAAF airfield at Framlingham Suffolk who flew Mustangs , Just thinking a winch and compressor would be the right tool for the job !!!

Re: dual pulley question
Compressors are common on flightlines, air craft tires need proper inflation, etc., speaking of air compressors on flightlines, the one on the Cletracs is very impressive when in use.

Re: dual pulley question
Personally I've never seen a flight line jeep with a winch on it....sounds like you should check where exactly compressors were mounted for brackets, where they were bolted on and see if that is in fact what was put in the jeep. The dual pulleys all these years later are found on many jeeps that had no compressor, no winch, nothing like that. Just a spare part when the old one was leaking and the engine was being rebuild post war.
No offense, but I think you might be better off restoring it as a base command jeep if you want to tie it to a particular airfield. No Compressor, no winch, not even a MG mount....something for the Colonel or Wing Commander to cruise around in?
Better yet....search for period photos of Framlingham Suffolk and the unit that flew out of there on unit websites and local historical societies or newspapers to see pics of jeeps that were based there and let that be your guide!

Re: dual pulley question
Thank you Chuck.
For sure my jeep never left the USA so has no combat history . The bell crank and dual pulley are most likely later changes . The engine is an MB anyway so it is a true motor pool . Going on You Tube shows over 100 USAAF bases active during WW2 in the East of England ( East Anglia) . Some were only a few miles from where I live now . Some have control towers still standing some with small museums attached . I think a good plan would be to visit some of them to see if any Jeep pics show unit markings . I will mark it as a "plain Jane" and name her "Hetty" after Hetty Wilson my great grandmother .

Re: dual pulley question
It is quite possible that your Jeep was repaired by the military with salvaged parts. As for the dual pulley, it is interchangeable with the single groove pulley that is used with the Air compressor kit and is also the same dual pulley installed for the governor drive belt on PE-95 and was installed on post war replacement engines.
If only your pulley could talk.
