Oh, she likes it! She gives me the freedom to fiddle around with all my army stuff. She enjoys jeeprides, but only in good weather though If I need a hand working on the jeep, she is always there, and willing to help! Can't get much better, I think!

Hi all,

My friend Luc asked me to take a look at this push pull switch, which came out of a GPA he is working on at the moment. It was stuck, and wouldn't budge. Took it apart, cleaned it and tried to identify the problem. The shaft had some wear and burring, which led to a stuck switch. After working at it for quite some time I was able to make it function as it should. All contacts were cleaning inside and out. After assembly I took my multimeter and all connections checked out. Quite happy now!

Hi all,

after receiving a long awaited package from the States, I am quite disappointed. Turned out the Grotelite 100's I was expecting were infact Grote reflectors, but with an SAE marking

I am now, once again, in the market for 4 'Grotelite 100' marked red reflector lenses...

If you have any, in any condtion, let me know, I am interested.

Hi Peace, glad you have an understanding girl that shares your love of jeeps. My partner is the same, she never knew jeeps existed before she met me. She is getting quite knowledgable on them, and the bonus is she gets a suntan driving to a show with the screen down. Happy days.

Yes indeed! Yesterday I went on a long jeepdrive with exellent weather. She was a bit upset she couldn't join me because of work! She a great help though. Last week we worked on the body together. We closed up some holes in the firewall, and she assisted. And as we speak she is out sourcing nuts and bolts for the jeep. She even found star washers!

After the setback with the wrong reflector lenses, I finally found the correct ones. Hopefully I can still say that when they finally arrive in Belgium. I did have one usable Grotelite No. 100 lense, but it was faded to an almost white.
I tried the method of painting translucent red paint, and after two layers on the inside, and one on the outside, this is the result...

Hey Mark,

thanks! No, it is not on the jeep. It's in the 'for trade' pile now, since I found a heap of original reflector lenses, all grotelite No 100! Very pleased with them.

I havent been posting much, but I've been busy.

Found an original Willys air horn which needed some love. That is fixed now. Also found an oil filter cover, but at home I discovered it is Purolator :/ Dont need that! Guess that will be up for trade too.

One of the nicer things I managed to pick up was an original good condition winshield outer frame. I got this as payment for services rendered. The frame has a new skin and bottom tube, so it needs some minor work still, but it is solid!
And just today I found an inner windshield frame with glass, also original. Got that one in a trade. One glass is cracked, but I'm going to keep it that way, because... both glasses are original!

Granted, the inner frame needs some work, but is overall pretty solid. Only one square inch needs replacing because of rust. I am going to work around the original glass, and avoid disassembly of the frame, to not risk further damaging the glass.

This week, my father and I got some work done on the underside of the jeep. The exhaust system needed some attention, as it was attached with non original hardware, and had a crack at the joint between the flex hose and the extension. It seems the reproduction exhausts are not really good quality. The fitting is relatively ok, but needs some gentle pursuasion !

My father hard at work here, finishing the job. I really enjoy doing this together with him.
We had to find alternatives for the domed bolts for the skid plade, as you can see. This bothers me, so this might be replaced in the future...

yes, I realise, but probably not enough, that time with my dad is precious, so I try to cherish it.

Did some work on the Original inner windschield this weekend.

Here was one problem. The tube with threads for the windshield bracket was missing.

And here is what I made of it.
That part of the frame was lightly sandblasted to get good metal and a feel of what I had to work with. With some scrap parts I fabricated the missing piece and carefully welded it in. Some primer to protect it, and here is the final result.

I'd like to have the correct tires on the jeep. To me, this makes all the difference. Looking into the remade tires from Goodyear, at 200$ a pop, this is quite expensive.. I'll settle for locally available examples, made for the commercial marked, but with an NDT thread. I experimented a bit with the markings. Here is the result. This particular tire was made in Marocco... Also showing off one of the finished combat rims. Those took a lot of elbow grease to get to the point they are now..
