G503 Member - Passing

Post by Bill B » Wed Dec 31, 2014 3:39 pm

I am Bill B's daughter, Jill, logged in under his account. I'm sorry to report to you all that my dad passed away on December 6th.

I know he had not posted here in a while, but being a member of several online forums myself, I thought there might be folks here that would want to know.

Restoring his jeep was one of the biggest pleasures in his life. I know that he found this site a bottomless resource of information and support during that process.

My mother, sister and I would like to thank everyone here that helped him, sold him something, bought something from him, or just had a chin wag or two with him.

Bill's Family

My condolences, Jill to you and your family.

I didn't know your father but I can see in reviewing his posts that he liked tools and loved selling them and posting about jeeps.

thank you so much Jon - and thank you to everyone that said such kind words about my Dad..... I was with him when he took possession of his jeep ... and let me tell you, i thought it was the sorriest piece of automotive junk i'd ever seen - but after a few years, he turned it into something very, very special. I was, and still am, in awe of my Dad.

Thank you all again........

Jill, sorry for your families' loss.

If you plan on keeping your Dad's jeep in the family and you have any questions about it or how to maintain and operate it, please let us help! There most likely is a "G" member close to you that could help you, too.

It sound like keeping it in the family has value. Another option recently employed by a member of our local MVPA club's widow was to donate his jeep to a museum in her husbands honor. That way, his memory and hard work lived on for others to enjoy.
I remember at his funeral that the widow wanted to bring the jeep to the memorial service but couldn't find the keys. We explained to her that there were no keys to start it and we have helped her with the maintainance of it and involve her in the clubs activities.

Your father will be missed, but his love for his vehicle will live on for as long as it does.
