Classic case of 4 persons wanting the same out of print book at the same time and 3 of those persons really wanting the book.

Hi wo2jeeper,
I should say time for some good scans or photocopies

I guess you or anyone else could try but it is my understanding that the fine for violating a valid copyright is something like $20,000 per copy made. The resale price of a scan or photocopy may have to be bumped up a bit from the $200 figure mentioned above to cover that extra cost.

Ok, then we keep this only to the inner circle and pay to much if we need it. Also think you better buy the John Farley widely avaible books if you need a good reference book.

Both of Mr.Farley's books are a great photo reference source to own.

Hello Niblet,

I guess if you have deep pockets the wording on the back side of the first page of either edition means very little.

And the hobby is much better off today because of Lawrence Nabholtz' dedication to the WWII Jeep and the information he shared.

Doesn't copyright law allow your to print one copy for your own use if you already own a copy? I would rather use a photocopy day to day than a valuable manual.

Whoever owns the copyright should see the prices these are going for and reprint and sell the book.

You are correct. You can copy a book with a copyright if you OWN a version of the original work. You cannot copy your original version and give / sell it to anyone else nor can you copy someone else's version of an original work without the copyright owner's permission without violating US copyright law.

I dont have deep pockets, but still the wording on the back of the first page means nothing to me as long as I'm not selling them or distributing them,,
I can still sleep at night

Hello
Seeing the mention about John Farleys books I would like to remind everyone the only place to get a brand new 100%copy of book 1 or 2 is direct from John himself. Email is
johnrfarley49@yahoo.co.uk
regards Nick
