And only three bidders.
Also there was no wives involved in how the seller acquired the books.

$200.00 may be a reasonable price, they started out just under $30.00 20 years ago. Remember, the G-503 Jeeps cost the Gov't around $800.00 when new and look at the asking prices now.

30$ in 1994, is worth $46.00 today, based on CPI increases.Ben Dover wrote:$200.00 may be a reasonable price, they started out just under $30.00 20 years ago. Remember, the G-503 Jeeps cost the Gov't around $800.00 when new and look at the asking prices now.
$1000 in 1945 is worth $12,800 today, again based on the average US CPI over the 69 years.

Might be time for the family to consider a re-print of Edition 2, or a new version that updates the information contained within.
I'd always hoped that Jeep Bantam Willys Ford 1940 / 1945 de Emile Becker would be produced in an english version. I have a nice copy, but my french is average.

'Hello Everyone
I''m surprised the seller didn't state the number stamped inside the book That normally would attract more bids on a limited edition.
regards Nick
ps; Hey John I doubt you'll get much of an opportunity to practice talking in French up at Corowa next week eh?
pps; That sale makes John Farleys 'Standardised Jeep' jeep books an absolute gift.(in my opinion).

In my humble opinion, John Farleys Vol2 is much better book than the Nabholtz...and a lot cheaper

Re: The Military Jeep by Lawrence Nabholtz over 200.00???
Someone has a copy on ePay for $250 now, item # 261418790141
I've only ever thumbed through a copy of the Nabholtz book once and realized that it was great for when it was published but has since long since been eclipsed as a good reference work.
The funny thing about 'rare' reference books, people never think to just ask the author if he's still alive and kicking. For example, I'm into space program stuff to a degree (not nearly as much as I'm into WW2 stuff, though) and kept reading about a book on space collectibles and how expensive they are. Googling the author, I found he was still around and I emailed him. Turns out, he had a few boxes of the same book going for well into three-figures everywhere. i got mine for the original list price. When I got it, I wasn't impressed at all (it turned out mostly to be a reference guide to astoruant autographs, something I have little interest in unless I get them in person from the astronaut), so I put it on eBay and it sold for a boat load of cash, to a buyer I'm sure who never even thought of looking up the author...

Re: The Military Jeep by Lawrence Nabholtz over 200.00???
What Lawrence had going for him is that he was very intelligent, mechanically inclined, curiosity driven enjoyed Jeeps, had real time hands on experience as an owner of a brand new WWII Jeep at the end of the war and was assigned to Army Ordnance during Korea where he was like a kid in a candy store surrounded by intact Jeeps..
Am sure he had the answers to many of the details that still stump and bog down the experts.

Wow $250 for number 1943 of the revised edition. Of course this is only an asking price.
I wonder what number 1001 of the revised edition with Mr. Nabholtz's own hand written changes would be worth ?
