Choke cables are actually very common on lawn mowers, I get plenty of people making that comparison when asking what all the levers and knobs are.
Explaining blackout lights is an interesting this to people who'd never heard of it before...

I finally dug out one of my tailored M-1951 Field Jackets from the good old days, been hanging in a closet for a good 50+ years, and hung it against the inside rear of the MB canvas. It is sure to "make conversation" as I was 30# lighter back then.

Ben you started a land slide here and its all good stuff. I have a small 48 star flag and it brings out a lot of comments about whether or not it is correct to fly it now that there are 50 states. Perhaps not thinking that in 1941-1945 there were just 48 states. An item that I have put in the glove box is a small pocket bible, being sure that it is dated in the WW II time period. On the few occasions that I showed my jeep (my last one) I wrote up an information sheet that I gave to anyone interested, that explained some facts about the jeep so that they could take that away and share it with other family or friends. :D

The odd thing I get every other show is someone asking (or sometimes demanding) where my "POW/MIA? flag is, as if it's some sort of law to have one.
I remind them that the flag didn't exist in 1944, so therefore, you won't find one in or on my MB. Oddly, I've met some almost crazy people on the subject, ad some folk don't take kindly to me not already recognizing the things they find important. I have had to tell a few, "Hey, you want a POW/MIA Jeep? Go get your own and do whatever you want with it."
I have little parade flags that are 48 star, just in case someone hands me one before a parade. I always swap them out, and only I know.
I've gone to a lot of trouble to get everything as it should be for WW2.

My WWII GI ISSUE AAF DZEUS Fastener Wrench is a good conversation starter. Whenever I have extras, I give them to Warbird owners that give me rides.

Hi all,
Since the only data plate I had when I first got my jeep was the one with the serial numbers on it(the center plate) it would look kinda funny with two new plates on each side, sooo I ordered a complete new set, stamped it, and mounted them on the glovebox, but I mounted the original plate on the backside of the glovebox door in the middle using the same screws and nuts. That way I get to keep the original plate with the jeep and show folks how it looked.

Lee...and others....when you spend enough time displaying your jeep and doo-dads sooner or later you want to CHOKE and THROTTLE something and it isn't the jeep!

It's not the little kids who can't leave things be, it's the small groups of older teens that have the worse manners.

Still looking for GI ISSUE WWII Air Corps DZUS Wrenches.
Had good luck recently finding CCKW Do-Dads. Some are really the "frosting on the cake".

I have a pigeon crate in my MB that always elicits a double take, followed by lots of conversation. Also a diecast "Sarge" and "Skipper" from the Cars and Planes movies to attract the interest of the very younger set. Often my Jeep tool display and the GMTK get more attention than the Jeep.
