A pair of panties flown from the mirror arm is always good for some small talk. Always good for a D-Day or Liberation of Paris event.

Don't judge, Ben.

I'm surprised that you haven't supplied us with the military part number and dates of production for the various models of the US Military GI undergarments.

Took my .50 cal M2 machine gun carriage that I cobbled together down to Sun N Fun in Lakeland, Fl a few weeks ago. Next year, I may just leave the 42 GPW at home and take the gun hooked to my Ford Explorer. More people just walked past the jeep to see the gun than didn't.

Seems every male in the State of Florida at one point in time had been qualified on the M2 and needed to explain to their son or spouse about head space timing, go and no go selectors, etc.

Started a lot of conversations, that unfortunately, I wasn't informed enough to extend. Got to do some homework on the M2.

Not much to say about a .50 that ain't in the TM except that a lot of GI teenagers have fired them on the ground air and sea, it likes to travel backward in the sand and will tear itself loose from an MB in time.

I have a pair of nylons tied to my rifle rack. Recently at a show an elderly lady asked what
they were for. I said they were to trade with the mademoiselle's and fraulein's.
Her reply: Oh, they didn't do that. Did they? :D :D :D

When I got my GPW project, 2 or 3 years ago, I said HEY! That's a nice ww2 bandage, let's buy it for the Jeep.
Then...What a nice M1 helmet, what a nice this, and that…
So here I am, with much more do-dads that what could ever fit in the Jeep!

The WWII Camp Forrest 2nd Army Ranger School Handbook that my Uncle Joe, who gave me my first Jeep ride, used at the Ranger School makes good conversation. That's why I keep a Rat Trap in the storage compartment.

Ben
Please tell me you are joking about the rat trap. Here in North Carolina, that would not be a good thing. After a parent got though beating you, and other parents getting in line (I have seen it) the sheriff would then like to talk to you. A rat trap? Really? that could main the hand of a small child, if you Uncle Joe seen you do that, and was still alive, I could picture him burning the manual. Not worth hurting a child over. That is just sick.
My father was a veteran of WWII, Korea, and Viet Nam, (Infantry) he never talked about it, except he was deeply hurt by what he saw happen to children, he had to see children hurt in war, to set a trap that could hurt a child looking at your jeep is just wrong.

I'll think about it, gotta have something that will get attention tho. Uncle Joe? I've seen him in action, they never waited for him to get close. He was still a gentleman, tho. I watched a guy take off as he stood up and ripped his B-15 Jacket in two without unzipping it or saying a word, he gave good warning as he fired up.

Explaining the Choke and Throttle controls is interesting to many. Not many present day automobiles have them.

Thanks Rodrigo!
One of these days I'll open a topic if there's an appropriate place here on the G!
I'm also a bit afraid of the 100s of pictures I'll have to take

Since my GPW is a tribute jeep to my father and father-in-law, while in Topeka, we got a set of WWII dogtags made for each of them. We had their service numbers with us. Didn't know that if a GI was ) positive blood or ) negative blood, it was just marked ) on the tag. And if the GI was a Baptist or Presbyterian or Methodist, it was just marked C for Christian.
Interesting tidbits to talk about next time it's on display.

On WWII tags there is no Rhesus factor for the blood type ( + or - ). A "C" would denote Catholic faith, "P" for Protestant, "H" for Hebrew, or left blank. Hope that helps!
