Interesting tub and seems to be a good donor.

Re: Rebuild of GPW 238336
Still cleaning parts,
6 of the spring U-bolts are F marked, including the wide one (notice F mark is rotated 90 degrees on this one)
Also found a F marked Gabriel shock, a KONI one, and a lot of armstrong ones, UK made I think.
Steering connecting rod (from steering box) is also marked (Ford USA B GPW 3306)

Re: Rebuild of GPW 238336
Both the short and long tie rod tubes are Ford (marked Ford USA, and a C a bit after)
All 4 tie rods too (marked Ford USA C)
If cleaned and regreased, is it OK to reuse these? They don't seem to have any excessive play, even with the dry grease
Any thoughts on the meaning of all these "B" and C"s? I've seen them (on jeepdraw) with both. Is that some kind of tooling number like the Ws on engine castings?
On the tie rod tubes I also have 4 identical "C" bolts, don't know if original or not, but they do look like.
Bell crank is I think the Willys one (WO1211).
Nice bearing, looks OEM

Re: Rebuild of GPW 238336
Hi all!
I spent some time playing around my beloved wreck.
Bought a Purolator oil filter:
Out of the box:
After sandblasting and phosphoric acid:
First coat of paint: I used Restom 2 pack cold hardening epoxy, outstanding finish and toughness.
Actually, finish is a bit TOO good, too shiny, and ugly over these rust craters!
Sanded it down to smooth it, and ordered same paint in semi-gloss, the first one will make a perfect filler!
I will also order decals from Ron, and a plating kit for the bolts.
And I will have the "INLET" and "PDblabla" lasercut in some rubber sheet, to make the stampings

Re: Rebuild of GPW 238336
Took some time to look at the fuel tank too.
It's OLACO marked, big mouth, with the indent, so probably original to the car.
Not that bad conditions, but dozens and dozens of pinholes. I don't like the price of a repro tank (and don't like repop anyway) so I'll try to save it.
I noticed that the 3 parts were soldered, so I began opening it.
Easy to say and a real PITA to do, but it works:
Heated the solder and opened the fold with a big screwdriver, then with some elbow grease and minor damage, it popped out!
Also took out the sender mounting ring and all the filler assy, these were really easy.
No fuel filter inside, is it a normal thing?
Will do more when I get my TIG welder!

Re: Rebuild of GPW 238336
Took the two air cleaner brackets and the horn bracket off the tub.
I believe all original, including bolts and washers!
Air filter brackets both F marked:
Horn bracket not marked but Ford style
Very nice F marked clips
"K" marked oil pressure line: does it refer to something?
Also bought another F U-bolt for 2,5 euros! still miss one to have the full set, if someone has this...
Found a strange screwed plate under the trailer socket, anyone knows what it is??
Last but not least, I found a goldmine of informations 20mn from home at a Jeep dealer:
Dod is 4 months after mine, but very few differences.
The pictures speaks for itself, all original and untouched except tires, original paint, original engine, data plates, canvas, bolts,.. original everything!

If you guys really want to cry, take a look at this MB:
http://www.jeepest.com/index.php?option ... &Itemid=29
100% untouched, tires and tubes included!
I think these two are among the nicest in the world.

The Jeepest one has been posted before, not least by me! I think they found it in the US.
Fabrizo, where is the Jeep that you show in the photo above? I love untouched originals.

Re: Rebuild of GPW 238336
The MB pictures as you noted are from Jeepest,
The GPW is at Indian Cars (Coignères, FR) showroom.
Not for sale sadly! I think it comes from the US too, dod is april 19, 1945 if I remember well.

Ah, Indian Cars. They also had this beauty a while back

I don't know where this company dreams its prices up. Their asking prices are somewhat acute.
