Thanks! Needs a bit more tweaking as the passenger fender has pushed the grill too far forward so when I close the hood, the passenger side just barely clears the lip of the hood but the driver side sits back away from the lip. I'll get it worked out, hopefully.... :)

Ha! Saw you post about Niblets jeep and I realized our jeeps were made on the same day! Mine is a few hours older than yours at 424970!

Hey CleBlanc, awesome to find another MB with the same date! Always wondered if there was other 'siblings' out there in the world! Sadly mine has sat all last year, no progress. A bit bummed to walk by it in the garage and see it collecting dust. Maybe this year will be the year!

Figure I would make a quick update to start 2015. Basically nothing was done last year. The poor girl sat in the garage, collecting dust and junk all over it. I actually cleared it off once only to let it get piled up again.... But, I did make one item for it, a windshield cover. Fun project in the end.

Image

Built off a Ford plan I have. Very generic overall plan I had so took some work to figure out all the details.

Image

Image

I know Lift the Dots are not correct but it was what I had on hand.

Fits over the rifle rack just fine! :D

So didn't work on the actually vehicle at all but got something made for it. That should count for something right? Hopefully this spring I can button up the motor and get her running. That is the last hurdle. Everything is just a bonus! Hopefully 2015 will be a good year!

Where has the time gone. Sadly not much has happen since the jeep returned back to my garage over a year ago. Well (hopefully) today that will change! Started to dig it out of the years worth of crud that piled up on it. The joys of owning an oversized one car garage that is used for storage, side business and jeep parking.

Image

Had the starter and generator rebuilt earlier this year so decided to get things installed. Starter and oil filter with lines in place. Baby steps here.

Image

Hopefully have the engine compartment buttoned up soon and be able to finally fire the old girl up since the engine was rebuilt.

Again, baby steps..... :D

With the cold winter weather, it really limits me to what I can do. Doing a lot of busy work, little do-dads and such. Stripped down the voltage regulator, cleaned it up and reinstalled.

Picked up an oil pump and NOS parts from a 'G' member earlier this year. Finally got around to taking a look at it.

One really big mile stone (to me at least) I finally reinstalled the data plates and frame tag. I bought this MB in 1999 and started tearing it down the following year. This poor thing has been in pieces ever since. Felt good to get these put back on after all these years.

Just one little piece at a time. Eventually I have to run out of pieces to put back on it, right??

Like you said making those baby steps. You will get there eventually. I really like your windshield cover.

Thanks Rodney! Sadly the old jeep isn't high on the priority list. Wish it was but more pressing things take priority. But at least I am moving forward! That is a good thing. :D

I think I may have acquired a rear seat spring bottom:

All the 'S' springs are good though some of the little curly wire and the perimeter wire is bad so will have to replace those.

Still kicking my self in the butt for throwing away the original rear seat springs (upper and lowers) that came with the jeep......

Oh man! All the flatfender and CJ5/6 jeep stuff we scrapped in the 70s and 80s!
I mean, we all know you can hear them rust here in the northeast.
" hey Todd1 what are these dumb bolt together wheels?"
Todd, "those things are junk, lets use them for fill behind the shed".
"I guess we can scrap this distributor, it has the wrong gear, and no vacuum advance" (G503 vs. most CJs)
Most would still be worthwhile now!
Good thing we kept everything imaginable from about 1988 on, if we only had future insight!

Still slowly tinkering on the old gal. Today got the last piece of the puzzle to button up the motor, a late style dust proof distributor! So excited I forgot to take a picture tonight.... :D

Also last month got my carburetor back (finally..... ) Anyways, it looks great!

Also found a repo late war pintle:

Almost ready to start this jeep up! I'm beyond excited! Just a few more minor things to do to it and I should be ready to step give it a go! A bit scared too...
