Time for an update. The end of May I had the chance to paint the body. Slowly, ever so slowly getting closer to getting this decade long project completed!
The only thing left to paint on the body is the rear panel.

Thanks John!

Sure has been a long processes to get it this far. Last major hurdle is getting the motor finished. Block has been checked, head decked, cam and valves in. Crankshaft is at the shop getting checked. Just have to order my pistons, bearings and gasket set and I can start getting it back together. Hopefully if my schedule slows up soon, I'll get the transmission and transfer case bolted together and put on the frame with the drive lines. I can't believe how close I am getting!

Haven't updated in awhile. Since the tub came home, slowly worked on getting it wired up. Recently got things wrapped up with the frame (brake lines and steering) and brought the frame home. Put the body on the frame. First time in a very long time that the two have been together.

And a ton more photos uploaded to my surfacezero account. The plan for the winter is collect all the parts needed for the motor rebuild so I am ready in the spring and tinker with getting items onto the body. I'm starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel! :D

Finished the last of the wiring clips for the main harness which means everything from the rear to the firewall is done. Just need to finish up with gauges and all the wiring on the body will be done! Next is get the fenders done and keep picking up parts for the motor for a (hopefully) spring rebuild. Man, getting closer and closer! It has been such a long journey......

Got to do a little work yesterday. Got the transmission and transfer case finished up (almost). Just need my shoes for the emergency brake and she will be all done. This week the rest of my parts for the motor will be ordered. Getting so close to finishing up the drive train!

Good way to start 2014 by doing a little work on the jeep today. The temps weren't too bad outside today so I wasn't a popsicle in the garage today! Did a little clean up around the garage so I could work. Got the transmission crossmember cleaned and primed, the skid pan, air filter brackets, panel light covers painted. Also cleaned up the gauges and painted four of them. (The fuel gauge is going through an attempted rebuild.) Also dug out the NOS front engine mount plate to strip the cosmoline off of it. Moving forward. Feels good!

Coming along great Nick. It is so nice when you get to the point of being able to put it back together again.

Thanks Rodney! Sure is nice to be on the down hill side of the project. It has been a long time coming. After some issues with end play, got the crank in the block last night. So all is left is pistons and I can start to button up the motor. Hopefully those will show up this week. Sadly, still a long ways away from starting it as I will probably have to get the generator, starter and carb all rebuilt. Just one step at a time....

What a great day! Pistons in, head studs in, front engine mount plate on, time gear and chain on. Tomorrow hopefully get the engine buttoned up and ready to mate to the transmission.

Pics to follow shortly.
