It's coming together nicely!
Is it true real Jeeps have flat fenders?
Alone cannot you it resist!

Hi Navarre
I have been watching your thread with great interest ,you are doing a fine job for sure . I am restoring GPW 67825 DOD 24/9/42. It was a very cheap import from Arizona and had been completely "Bubbarized !!! . The body was very poor, all outside holes were welded closed and a second floor front and back had been welded over the rusty original floor . Most of the hat channels were flat steel plate welded in . My restoration stopped after I had done the frame as I was not sure if an M D Juan tub might be a better and quicker way to get my jeep on the road sooner .This was 5 years ago but I have been working on Model "A" Fords since then . Luckily recently I bought a ACM 1 tub which is in way better shape than mine so I repairing that instead for now . This tub came off a late 43 GPW ( Ford used the ACM 1 tub last 3 months of 1943 .) the owner put a repro tub on . On my Ford body the step plates are a separate part and are spot welded to the tub so you can see a seam on top where they join . It looks on your pics that your tub and step plate are one piece so I wondered if your body is much later and had the ACM1/2 style . I did not know there were two different step plates and only the ones that were part of the body were available from UK dealers .I had already repaired that part of the body so I did not want to cut a slot in my new patch so I converted my new spets the Ford style .
I often visited the Canary Islands.Las Palmas, when I was in the Merchant Marine in the late fifties and early sixties ,we called for bunker fuel . The dock would be lined up with big American open tourers of the twenties and thirties real gangster cars !!! They were for the tourists to be taken to see the sights I wonder if any survived !!!

Captain John in Spring weather Suffolk County England .

Hello Captain,

In my GPW tub the steps are separate pieces so there is a seam :

As you can see, I had to replace the original steps but here you are a pic before they were changed:

hope it helps!
