Rodney,
I have the whole rear panel with the brackets still attached . Now you have the locations for mounting onto your panel . Need to make sure the holes in your repop rear cross member match up. Gonna cost you supper one night .

I ordered a new rear bolt from Ron for the drivers side set of springs as the old one was really worn. I also bought new shock grommets from him too.
Made some progress today. I finally was able to loosen the bolts to the drivers side leaf spring and dropped it.
I started on the passenger's side and alas, even with PB Blaster I sheered one of the U-bolts end completely off. It was F Marked too :( .
I tried more PB Blaster and lots of elbow grease and an impact wrench and at least loosened the other three. I got one off with the impact wrench but could not get the impact wrench in proximity to the remaining two due to the floor hack being in the way. I soaked with more PB Blaster and will try again with maybe a scissor hack this time so there is more room for the impact wrench.

One thing I noticed was oil leaking apparently from the front axle. I have it angled with the axle u-joint connection toward the floor and the front facing up toward the engine. Is this normal to leak like that?

My brother-in-law is an accomplished welder and has been kind enough to do a lot of the body work for me. He has asked me if I can get someone to send photos back to me of correct body areas in the exact same angles he has taken of my incorrect sections below. He wants to make sure and get it right the first time. Can someone be so kind as to send me some photos?

The angles he needs sent back of a correct jeep:

Thanks so much for the links. I cannot get the first one to work. It just prompts me to creat a Picassa account?

Thanks so much for sharing your album. Is that a short stock FN-FAL you are shooting?

Making some progress. I was able to finally free the front leaf springs. I sheered the bolt off of one of the U bolts on the passenger side :x . Hopefully Ron has a replacement.

I then made a lot of progress on the front frame horns. I can really use some advice. They do not look right when I test fit the gussets to them. I think the horns are too long? Jon if you are reading this can you send me a photo with lines where I need to cut if I do need to cut?

I also am concerned about the rear leaf springs. I noticed on another post somewhere a guy had to weld his rear leaf spring hangers to his cross member. I noticed mine are not welded to the cross member, but to the frame. Did bubba screw me again or is this factory?

Hi Rodney,
I have been watching your resto and you have been very busy. Just a bit worried about your front gussets, they just dont look right. Have you rivited them on yet :?: only asking as the front spring hanger is sandwiched between them like this.

Keep up the good work and keeping us all posted.

Actually the spring hanger is located under the gusset?

I looked at the last few pictures posted, Dave [Jeepfinger] is talking about your front spring shackle brackets. I'm guessing your photos show a trial fitting of the gusset plates before you added the spring brackets.

edited to correct post, realized your photos are probably trial fit without brackets in place.

Looking at it again I guess this was correct, since your bolt/rivets are not torqued down yet. If this is the case you can ignore my above post.
