Hello Rodney,
From the pictures it looks like you may have a mixture of MB and GPW springs. It also looks like the springs from Ron on MB springs. You may wish to double check before you get to far along. What a job, great work so far! Jeffrey

Looking good Rodney! Just one tip for you, make sure the inner body mounting holes on your rear cross member match up to the mounting holes on your body. I found out the hard way after I put my tub back on that the holes didn't match up. It may be diffrerent for the GPW but I doubt it.

Thanks guys fro your encouraging words. It means a lot and makes a difference!
918jeeper, are you suggesting I do not tighten up or drill the holes for the crossmember until I get the tub sitting back on the frame?
So does the back side of the frame look complete? I thought it was missing the back solid piece that the crossmember bolts to?

Re: Motorpool Restoration 1943 GPW 124269
I'm referring to the rear crossmember that is painted red primer in your photo. I'm assuming it is a new crossmember. I purchased a rear crossmember from Ron that was made by MD Juan and the holes were off. There should be four holes on the crossmember where the rear of the tub is mounted on. The outer mounting holes on my rear crossmember lined up with the body mounts on my tub but the inner ones were about an inch off and I didn't find out until I put my tub back on the frame. So I would measure the distance between the outer and inner body mounts on the tub and compare it to the distance between the body mounting holes on the crossmember to make sure they will line up. If they are off then I would drill the correct holes prior to mounting the tub because unless you have a special angled short drill, you will not be able to drill them with a standard drill with the tub on. I hope you understood all of that.thidisbogus wrote:Thanks guys fro your encouraging words. It means a lot and makes a difference!

Okay now I know why you are not understanding me. You are missing the L shaped body mounts. There should be one right about where the garage door hinge lines up in your photo, and another one right before the body is angled for the pintle hook. Same for the other side.
This photo of my tub will show you what I'm talking about.

Here's another photo for you. Unless it's completley different for a 43 GPW then disregard.

918Jeeper,
Aaaaaarrrghhh!!!!! Blast that bubba! Yet ANOTHER set of parts I need to source that the knucklehead left off. Thanks so very much for catching this and posting these photos. Do you know what the measurements are? Would Jon Rogers have them on Jeepdraw or would someone on here have them?

Re: Motorpool Restoration 1943 GPW 124269
Please take a closer look at the photos below. Note the sections I have circled. Am I missing a piece of the frame that I drew out in white inside the circle that would bolt to the crossmember? These photos are looking from the machine gun mount toward the back to the crossmember. Hopefully I am wrong since you guys have not said anything yet.

Re: Motorpool Restoration 1943 GPW 124269
As you may know I am having to install a new fuel sump as well as pioneer panel on the GPW. My brother-in-law is an accomplished welder and has been kind enough to do a lot of the body work for me. He has asked me if I can get someone to send photos back to me of correct body areas in the exact same angles he has taken of my incorrect sections below. He wants to make sure and get it right the first time. Can someone be so kind as to send me some photos?
The angles he needs sent back of a correct jeep:

Here's some pix. They're of an old tub I repaired many years ago. I didn't replace trhe whole well, but put in small patches where it was rusty. there are also two bits missing- two flat pieces rather like the one on the front, intended to stop junk from falling into the well. But the layout is how it was originally, just dirty and unfinished.
Hope this helps.
