Looking good, Rodney. It looks like you finally have your tail light holes in the right location? I noticed that the tail light attaching plates are missing on my GPW project. Did you have your original tail light mounting plates to relocate, or did you have to make them/source them? The tail panel is really looking good as well. Keep up the good work!

Thanks Zeph! I sourced the taillight brackets from Ron and had to weld them in place. Unfortunately bubba cut the old ones out and no trace of where they were. Used jeepdraw for measurements.

Oh, that's good to know. I will need to get a jeepdraw set for those from Jon. I want to make sure they end up in the correct position!thidisbogus wrote:Thanks Zeph! Thanks again. Take care,

Re: Motorpool Restoration 1943 GPW 124269
Making progress slowly but surely. I am racing to get whatever I have to do with the body done so I can put it back on the frame and gain garage space and feel like I am getting somewhere. Today I utilized the jeepdraw information to get my holes marked for the forward and rear axe clamps. I also had to do some more cutting on the rear panel to get the section above the pintle looking right.
I moved to install the toolbox locks I got from Ron, but discovered a couple of things. The original lock pieces were frozen on. Kroil did not work:
So I applied heat from a propane torch and it worked perfectly:
Now the problem I have is I believe bubba screwed me again. Look at the latches that are riveted into the lids. It does not look right. I think he squished and bent the latches up. Now I have to figurte out a way to bend them back. Has anyone run into this before?

Got a lot done this weekend. Great weather outside with a nice breeze.
Started painting the underside of the body and rear fenders to cover up the black bubba put on. Started cleaning and painting the floor that was painted black by bubba. Installed the tool box locks purchased from Ron. Bent the tool box lid latch things back from how bubba bent them (used vise grips). Installed trailer plug completely. Marked and drilled holes for the forward axe handle clamp and marked holes for rear clamp. Next step is to go over with another coat of 33070 OD and then start the wiring harness.

Wow, she sure is pretty! I gotta say thanks because I was having a heck of a time figuring out how the locks/latches go in. Beautiful work!

Hi Rodney,
She coming on great I hope that you don't mind, but I have seen a couple of things you need to do before you do some more spraying. You may know about them, if so that's good, I have spotted a large round hole with two smaller holes one on each side, this is down where the front drivers floor rises. This is not factory and really needs plating. Also on your back panel you need one of these,

It goes on the back panel above the gas can reiniforcement, at the moment you have a footman loop somewhere near where it should go. Rodney, you may have one and not put it on yet. All the best.
Dave

Brett and Zeph thank you for the encouraging comments!
Dave, can you please make a copy of my photo you are referencing and use Microsoft Paint to point to the area that needs plating? I do appreciate you letting me know about it and need some guidance on it.
I do have a gas can strap bracket watiing to be mounted .

Hi Rodney,
Here's your photo with the hole circled in red that needs plating. Sorry, but I can't give you any guidance on doing the job, as I can't weld The gas can holder, not too sure that you had one, all the photos that I saw had the footman loop there.
Regards,
Dave

Re: Motorpool Restoration 1943 GPW 124269
Dave, thanks so much for pointing that out. I also am not much of a welder, so I probably will try and source some rubber grommets and paint them green after filling the holes.
Rodrigo,
Thanks for pointing those holes out too. I wonder what bubba did that for? An ignition switch or something? I will probably do the grommet thing with those too. I don't want to jack up the dash areas with some amateur welding. I think this is what you were looking at Rodrigo?:
