Your GPW looks great Rodney! I have the same top from Dave at Weebee...very pleased. I haven't had time to shrink it down yet, but hopefully I will have a weekend when I can.

Picked the same font as you on your jeep numbers. Just drew mine in and painted by hand. First one I seen like mine.

1/321FA ,
Thanks for posting your photo. Your font is indeed just like mine. I am very impressed---painting by hand. Do you have a restoration thread for your jeep? If so can you post the link?

Here is my FB on it. Since it is not my real military but a tribute/motorpool replica, I did not post a build on the G503. Many parts are original G503 though.

Eric,
I think you have done a fine job on your jeep. I don't think the guys on here would have given you a hard time if you explained in your thread your goal of getting a clone GPW going, especially if budget and time are restraints to prevent a restoration of a bona-fide original. It's your jeep and I think it looks great. You especially did a good job on those tool indents. Very clever. I like your reenactment uniform too.
So is it a '46 CJ2A with a 42 GPW body? I never have heard of a DJ3A. Where did that come into the picture? What is the difference between that and a CJ3A?

Re: Motorpool Restoration 1943 GPW 124269
DJ is a Delivery Jeep. They were also the Surreys. Some had tailgates, some had solid backs. Mine had the solid back lending it to a replica much more easily. My title is from a 46 CJ2A but the whole jeep is a collection of myraid parts. I studied the MBs and GPWs closely and have both a GPW non-script 42 body and a MB Script 42 body to gather correct information from. When I do my real military Jeep I am probably leaning toward the GPW body on the MB frame as opposed to the MB body. It will be a motorpool resto. I think it turned out well. Still not done. When it I get the real one done I think a re-enactment group would be interested in the one I have done now.

Learned something new today. Thanks for the explanation.
So your salad jeep is just a stopgap? Make sure and start a thread on here when you begin work on your original. I still think you have done a very nice job on your salad. Do you reenact or do you mainly wear your uniform for parades and events?

I represent. I do not re-enact. I strive to keep what the 101st was current in the minds of our continuing generations. I was 101st Airborne from 1976-78 1/321st Artillery. That is why my jeep is designated 321GF for the 321st Glider Field Artillery. Supposedly the last Artillery unit to fire in WWII. Not many Jeep marked as artillery. I also served with the 1st Armored Division 2/78th Field Artillery in Bamberg, Germany. Another great history as are all our units.

Your GPW looks great! Where did you get the Ranger decal that you have on the windshield?

Hi Mike!
It has been a long while since I have been on the G. Work has been very busy, which is a good problem to have. Sorry about the delay in replying.
I got the decal from Rick Larson:
