Ron's SNAFU

Post by Mike Seymour » Mon Aug 17, 2009 12:50 pm

Filling the diesel PU truck with regular unleaded gas, at 2330 hrs, in Bloomington, Ill...........$52.00
Tipping a truck stop diesel mechanic to watch us pump out the tank and put in a new filter...$120.00
Scott Miller taking a picture of the operation.......................................................Priceless :D
Guess us dumb Oregonians are just used to the green nozzle being for diesel.

Ah... both of you step away from the nozzle.

Last time I was up there in Oregon the station would not let anyone pump their own gas.

I now see why this is the case in Oregon as those who live in Oregon cannot seem to get the hang of it.

Did you stop at a BP station?
A friend did the same thing.
There is no regulation about using green for diesel only, but there should be.

Funny you ask, John... Three hours later Ron got into some bad donuts and got food poisoning...spent about a half hour 'sellin' Buicks' behind the trailer in a rest stop parking lot....so I had to drive most of his shift too.... I told the kid we should just stay in Evansville and had no business roaming around in foreign states in the middle of the night with no sleep...But noooo!

I expected one of you guys to comment that mistaking that small gas nozzle for the large diesel nozzle explains alot more than just a wrong tank of fuel doesn't it???

All up and down the western US, diesel nozzles are green. In Oregon it is against the law to pump our own gas but we can pump diesel. Here diesel cost the same wether they pump it or you pump it...so why get out of the truck and get your hands all smelly? As far as nozzle size, I've never noticed...never had to.
Anywhoo, life was good until we got in the great state of Illinois where nozzle colors are determined by what looks feng shui to the station owner...
I for one will give the pumps a second look from now on, wherever I am.
