Re: teardrop camper
My kudos as well. Eric is a young guy but Mac is "da MAN". He managed that whole trip without one complaint and he managed to do all his own driving. Amazing.
As far as the peppa...I bought one of those darn things for $50 in Dawson Creek and all it did/does is get in my way. I saw two bears and they were both on the side of the road. Sheesh!
Alan deserves the award for scrunchin his feet into a drip space. Awesome...but tight. Beautiful workmanship.

Thanks Dave and Alan for the pat on the back !! I went on this Convoy to be treated like one of the boy`s, which I was, not like and OLD man that needed someone to do things for him !! If I wanted to be treated like an old man, I would have gone to a nursing home !!--------------Got that ??

Re: teardrop camper
Old man? Jeez Mac, I had a hard time keeping up with you. I'm just glad you're not any younger or I'd be in real trouble.
Here's Mac in action (photo center). On the left are father & son Twaddle... on the right is Dan Seaborg, Mr Poet Extraordinaire and Possessor of the compression gauge that told me that my engine wasn't up to snuff.
Here's a shot of Mac and his hotel room, with Eric doing other stuff. Our camp at Tombstone - one of my favorite spots. Let's face it - old guys just don't sleep in stuff like that.
Here's Keith Campbell, demonstrating to Dan and Janine McCluskey how to use a hatchet after drinking 47 beers.
Another shot of Mac and Eric, on the Dempster Highway.
And... a shot of Mac, schmoozing it up with the folks restoring Dredge #4 near Dawson City. The ALCAN Potholers was our march unit thing, thanks to Paulie.
Dave - thanks for your post! I don't have you in many pics for some reason. One is at Soldier's Summit. Here's another. Left to right: me holding my jeep up, John Gillich pointing at me, Paulie hitting his head in disgust, Dave Aro, Mark Wiesner, and Robert Barrow.

Re: teardrop camper
I wrote an article for a new on-line magazine about teardrops - here's the site:
http://issuu.com/cooltears/docs/ccmag20 ... =%23000000
Mac may question my definition of "open jeep" so I thought I would make it up to him by giving Mendeltna Creek a plug.

I agree, nicely written Alan. Thanks for the link to the magazine.
Steve, maybe you should write a Spam Recipe article for the cooking section, since someone already covered the Dutch Oven.

Re: teardrop camper
Appreciate the nice words!
It really was an outstanding trip. I wish I had another one to look forward to, at this moment. Gray winter days in Ohio with no epic convoys in horizon... sux.

Re: teardrop camper
Ok, so no teardrop stuff in this post but it was a good day. Put over 100 miles on my MB. I forgot how uncomfortable that seat is...
Started out at the Nat'l Museum of the Air Force. That's a C-60A aircraft. Some random guy popped into the pic.
Then off to Piqua, Ohio for an event honoring Korea and Vietnam vets. Got to see Kenny and Anna Adams - that's their CCKW in the back. They drove that MV some 9000 miles last summer to do the Alaska Convoy. The MB with the cool stuff in the foreground was brought by Ken Hoelscher, who frequents the Gee in the 2.5 ton forum.

Re: teardrop camper
A new project. My mother died last week in Montana, which really sux. The good part is that I was able to see her several times in recent months. I stumbled across a '39 Ford pickup while visiting her in May, and bought it. My plan is to paint it as belonging to the 615 Bomb Squadron - a B-17 unit that trained in my hometown in 1943. I'll use this pickup for the TMC19 100th anniversary transcontinental convoy (towing the teardrop, of course). The fenders and bed are pretty bad but it's all there and the body/frame are in excellent condition. Looks like it last ran in the mid 1980s.
