M151s in Arizona
Does anyone know the real story on the Marine M151s stored in racks in I believe Arizona? I’ve heard lots of stories. Were they new or rebuilds? Are there any available for sale? Thanks!

The image I usually see when these are brought up. Halftracknut claimed he could see his all the way to the far left rear...

I know where 6 are. Had to get Museum status to get them. Said they all were moved to Georgia prior to disposition. If 6 got out how many more did? We’re they rebuilds or brand new? Most have appx.30 miles on the odometer.

These 151s were CARC GREEN, with the camo drawn on in what looks like chalk. Not camo painted yet.

Looking closely at the rear fenders I realized I could see daylight through them! Those are all ambulances and I'm seeing the body extension aren't I?

Re: M151s in Arizona
Yes, the ones close up are 718's. And yes, a lot went to "museums", real or otherwise. It is the "otherwise" factor that puts a stain on the hobby. And also makes it hard to acquire other surplus equipment anymore. They were mostly new but there were also a lot of resets in with them. The lines were chalk since the camo was applied at the point of arrival depending on what type of camo they were using there. Keep in mind that those pictures are quite old, those vehicles are all long gone and have all been replaced in those same areas with thousands of HMMWV's.
