Does anyone know who made the engines for the M151?

Hercules, for one. I have read that there is at least one more engine manufacturer, but the name eludes me right now. IIRC, as underpowered as the Hercules is, the other is worse.

White Motor Company made most, Next Ford, but I have never heard that Hercules made any.

Dear Muttfans,
Hercules most certainly was a manufacturer of Mutt engines. Somewhere in the archives I have a photo of a product sheet from the company clearly showing the mutt engine.
Blackdog is also correct when he says it was a german design. The mutt engine reminds me very much of the British Ford cars the Consul and Zephyr) of the late 50s.
A couple of years ago, i was in touch with a Ford engineer who was involved in the testing of an M151 engine in Egypt in the 1950s.
He confirmed that the company used an off-the-shelf engine which was already in use in the Ford Tunus (Grmany). I would reckon that the Taunus owed its creation to a similar-engine design in Michigan.
Kind regards....
