Bubble Light Hookup

Postby Charlie 6 » Thu Apr 19, 2012 2:24 pm

I am weak when it comes to electrical. I purchased a Warning light (Old Bubble Style) 28v for my M151A1. I mounted it on the drivers side rear. I have an on/off switch mounted on the dash. I need to know where the best place to tie it in for power. Thanks.

Acc circuit on the ignition switch. If you have a properly installed heater kit, the circuit is already tapped. I'd make a proper Packard connector "Y" jumper from the load side of the heater circuit breaker and share the breaker between the heater and your disco light.

I should be finishing my heater install tomorrow or Saturday (then my hands and arms can quit bleeding and heal). If you need pictures of the wiring, ignition switch or circuit breaker, let me know early and I'll try to accomodate.

Whatever you do, don't splice into your harness with Scotch-Loks or any other shortcut methods. Always use the proper military connectors and jumpers.

If you any pixs that would help, my ignition switch is common key style from autozone, not standard 4 plug and the heater is the standard issued but the switch is only two position even though the plate shows 3, low off high. Also the heater does not have the long horizontal bar (sorry don't know official name) that is supposed to be mounted behind dash. The heater works so I never messed with it.

OK,
Sounds like your wiring harness has already been bubbafied. Ignore all advice on doing it the right way.

Pull your key switch and hook your disco light wire to the post not marked B, BAT, or +. It may be marked IGN, ACC or not at all. I'd still fuse the circuit.

Your heater is missing it's resistor, which gives it the High/Low function.
