M151A2 Modifications for Delta Force during Desert Storm

Postby Joe_RCEME » Fri Sep 09, 2011 11:31 am

Does anyone have information regarding these M151's? I have looked everywhere and can find very little on them besides only 10 were made and all but 2 were scrapped. One is at Ft. Bragg. I would like to find any information on it. All I have been able to find is 2 pictures of one before it was demilled. The one at Ft. Bragg is out of the public eye and no way of seeing it. Any help be great.

Were these set up differently than the standard FAV?

Is the one at Bragg out of the public eye, or just on the installation. If the latter, I can take care of that issue... Location and I can get some photos (if allowed)

Yes these were modified just for the "Delta Force" they look nothing like the FAV the Marines used. The one at Bragg is out of the public eye and no idea where it is at. I have 4 photos of it before it was taken into storage. I have no clue where that one is at currently other than FT. Bragg. The 2nd one I was able to buy the parts and peice back together while the rest was demilled. I have 95% back together but still dont know what some parts are or what weapons went where. I can post pictures after Sunday of what I have done so far.

Here are a few pictures of the jeep. I need to edit more and will load them also.

The tires and fender flares are not correct as of yet still tracking down exact styles used but as of right now the current ones are working and look "alright"

Interesting, were the extensions on the hubs for self recovery using rope?

Jay the one in those pictures is the actual one from Ft. Bragg bumper No.1 where it is now no one can tell me other than still at bragg somewhere. Rick is that one a real one or a repop? the sheild in the front looks fake and is missing alot of parts off of it from the pic. I am still looking for any and all info on these things.

Joe,

I was under the impression that particular FAV was privately owned by a guy named Eric.
I think he has retired from collecting MV's. Try contacting him on this email MILTRUCKS@HOTMAIL.COM

Joe, I don't know if it is real. You would have to ask Ralph.

The girls are the real thing though.

The FAV with the Hooter Girls is the "real deal" including the correct wheels. This has been verified by several Vets that actually used them in Granada. One was a CSM who drove one as a PFC. It even had the holes where the rear "seat" was mounted between the rear sponsons. It came off of Fort Benning.

I'm familiar with the operational use of these vehicles and it might be worth noting:

The extended hub retention points is to speed up helicopter sling-loading for a rapid extraction. The radios would be Harris models, not the standard issue comms. No XM-117E2 or E1 rifles have been in service since the late 70's. These would have used Colt's models 733s. Lastly, "Delta Force" was a Chuck Norris film. It is officially SFOD-D, or referred to as simply Delta.
