MY 1955 M38A1

Post by Halsey » Thu Jan 10, 2013 9:22 am

Some before and after pics of my jeep.

Bought by Cornell Univ as surplus and used on their agri fields. I bought it from a fella in their transportation dept back in 2003ish.

Taken us a while to get it back to almost original.
Hood numbers and letters found after wet sanding the red paint....

Looks great.
Every child should have a military Jeep.
Great inspiration for me to get back to work on my 55 M38A1.

Thanks,

Dave

Yes, he has definitely claimed it as his own. Hard part is getting him out of it at the end of the day! Lol! :D

Good luck with your 55!

Chris,
I noticed that your serial number is 84 959. My is 84 909. This is very close to each other. The difference is only 50 jeeps. It is likely that at that time in 1955 in Toledo met together. Now, each on a different continent. The distance between them is greater than half the globe.

That is very cool Barnii !! I think your M38a1 is the closest serial number yet that I have seen!! Very very neat!!! :D
There is a 5/55 M38a1 in a city near here that is probably the next closest, its serial number
84 834. Also very close to ours!! May of 1955!

Do you happen to know the hood number of your M38A1?

Thank you very much for posting!!

Chris,
I unfortunately do not know anything about the history of my M38A1. The number on the hood is not what was originally on the vehicle. Data plates are but original.
