Paid .25 for this at an estate sale yesterday. Tells a story. Wonder what the numbers mean.

I'll take a WAG as to the #.
4SC=4 South Carolina or Signal Corp.
408=August 08th
43= 1943
912=912th incident
2= 2nd photo

All pure speculation,grounded in nothing. :roll:

Looks like he's laughing, so probably safe to assume the driver wasn't killed, but maybe thrown from the jeep instead?

Skid marks are almost straight down the side of the hill (no forward movement) so it likely slid down then rolled when the right wheels hit bottom, which may have actually tossed the driver out the right hand side if he hadn't bailed up top already.
No pool of blood or kicked up dirt (or footprints) like someone was extracted from the side of the jeep.
Neat shot, fuel tank/oil/battery hasn't started leaking out yet too?
One of those "OoooHhh S...!" moments in slow motion I bet, front right wheel starting the whole mess.

It must be a Ford built GPW,
"Flip Over Read Directions".
Sorry, just could't resist.

Looking at the trees, and the presence of a rr bed. Combined with the Jeep having no pioneer tools or "combat stuff" strewn about I wonder if this was at Camp Polk, LA. That was a Railway Operating Battalion training center.

Nothing to joke about, and G-503 Jeeps are just as prone to rollover today, probably more so due to advanced wear and metal fatigue.

At the very least, he probably couldn't pass a strawberry seed.
