Hi chaps. As part of a group that research's the Jeep in British service, a large part of what I do is collect images of them in postwar service. We now have over 200 jeeps identified in postwar images, but I know there are so many more out there. This is a request for any photos you might have. It's easy to spot what I am after. Look at the numberplates on the image below. The middle letters will always be YH or YJ. Anything you might have that match this we would very much appreciate. This is entirely not for profit and run by jeep enthusiasts.

Re: Request for British postwar jeep photos
Sorry i don't have any photos for your right now. However i would like to know if you know anything about, or have any photos of jeeps with some of the modifications my jeep has. It was reconditioned by 23.BH.REME. Here's some photos of the modifications.
These style head lights. Hinged sheet metal lid over opening for gas cap, with bracket for pad lock.
My lid is missing. Bracket to lock steering wheel. My Dad started buying WW2 army jeeps in the mid 50s, and i was born in 1961. He bought his first British post war jeep in 1963 and then this jeep in 1967 and i am really into British post war jeeps Thanks for any help. I will look around to try to help find photos for you.

Butler headlights, standard on post-war British army Jeeps. The locking flap for the petrol filler and the steering lock were also standard mods. The extinguisherbracket was often relocated to the floor beneath the passenger seat. The blackout lights in the grill were removed, and Butler sidelights located on the fenders. The openings for the blackout lights were blanked off with circular plates fixed by 4 small screws. You will often find that the lifting handles on the tubs were to a different, non-standard design, slightly more rounded in appearance. A mirror was set on the passenger side fender. The mirror backs were often painted red, as were wheel nuts. There would have been a convoy light affixed to the rear cross-member which would be positioned to illuminate the white-painted rear diff housing, and this fixing may have incorporated a British standard plug for trailer electrics. Both were controlled by a black bakerlite Lucas switch on the dashboard, located close to the light switch. My Jeep had a light-blue painted engine, exactly the same shade that the British Army still uses for rebuilt engines in all its vehicles.
Jim Mulligan of this parish has a superb unrestored British Jeep. I would love to see more photos of your Jeep too.

Re: Request for British postwar jeep photos
Oddly, I notice that of the two Jeeps in the photo above, one has Butler sidelights located in place of the orginal blackout markers, whilst the other has blackout markers located on the fenders where the sidelights would normally have been fitted.
