Louisville during WWII .
Dedicated to Tom and René. Thanks for your estimation of my Hood number.
I've found these pics in an e-book on Louisville history.

Central Trucking Systems, located at 1401 South Western Parkway, is shown here trucking military jeeps and vehicles to railroad cars for shipping out of Louisville to assigned locations for the war on August 13, 1945.

The Ford Motor Company noted this was the last military jeep produced at its Louisville plant as the 93,389th jeep.
Louisville produced about one out every five jeeps during the war, in 1945.

I wonder if the civilian truck behind it had any "F" marked bolts?

If yes, this could be a good F marked bolts source for us .
But you need to be in the USA and explore salvage yards for that type of truck :) !

But that's a good remark.
Did Ford continue to stamp bolts after WWII ?

Great photos! Very revealing and very historical! Notice that none of the jeeps have stars or hood numbers. They also do not have pioneer tools or spare fuel cans. I love the raw as issued look! Thanks for posting!

Hi Yves,

Thanks for the photos. I had not seen the first two before.

In the first photo the left side is now a Minor League Baseball field and on the right side it is now a parking lot.

Uh, oh! Does the MVPA need new standards for a true "factory class" restoration?
Is it true real Jeeps have flat fenders?

How do you know that there are no blue drab hood numbers ?

The "last jeep" appears to have the blue drab hood numbers, but the showroom jeeps don't. Since they're in a showroom, maybe they weren't (yet?) accepted by the army. :?:

Hi Yves,
Military jeeps and vehicles are loaded to transport by trucks to the railroad loading station at Louisville Bedding at 418 East Main Street in 1942-1943
Is this on the back of the first photo ?

There does not seem to have ever been any railrord tracks in that area of Louisville. This location is only a couple of blocks from the dock area where barges would have been loaded in the 40's and may have been a major Ford product holding area during the War. The Ford assembly plant had a rail line running into the buiding for all weather rail shipments.

Great photos,

I played around with them in photo shop & could see or make any signs of hood numbers, the one with the lady & last Jeep sign has them though.
