Machine gun cart display

Post by Robin » Wed Jan 17, 2018 6:01 am

Here's a little something that I put together and displayed at the gun show last weekend. A 1933 dated M1 Wheeled Machine Gun Mount and an M1917 Ammunition Cart.

A very nice display. I have one question. Would these two items be drawn together as shown in the pic or separately. I guess I'm asking how these two would be used together in the early thirties.
Thanks

Later that day I replaced the chair with a WW2 shotgun ammo box that someone brought to my table.
And yes, in the mid 1930's the M1917 ammo cart was retrofitted with a small pintle hook so it and the M1 mount could be pulled by a single mule.

Robin,
As usual, a exceptionally nice job. Just curious, what's strapped to the tongue of the MG cart - spare barrel in its case?
Keep up the good work.

Cool Display, I need a kickstand as well, maybe someone with a forge can help us out?? i never would have thought thats why the ammo boxes had the angle cut on them (odd / Even, storage) give you something to grab on to, i was told the angle was for a clearance issue with a updated cradle.
