Cart pictures.

Post by gpwmke » Sun Apr 20, 2014 6:22 am

Is there a site I can view that shows the various carts used by the army in WW2. Anything like the Crismon book out there for carts. What are are the other carts beside the M3A4 I see talked about on this site? Anything that may have been pulled by horse as well as men? Best wishes; Leo

Leo. A little busy right now to post more pictures but here is a gallery on my photo hosting site that shows some different Carts than just the M3A4.

Model of 1917 Hand Cart was pulled by horse and Mule but could also be pulled by hand.

The cart I've seen a couple times has a box/bed made of wood and has 2 long wooden poles that can mount on the sides facing forward. Looks like a horse could fit between the poles. Or two guys could pull it. The wheels are narrow solid disc and the tires look like skinny motor cycle tires like used on the K38 telephone trailer. There are lots of miscellaneous brackets/fittings on this cart including something that may be a parking brake. There are 3 leather straps along the length of the box to secure the load. The box is about the size of the M3A4 cart. Any idea on the M number on this type trailer as well as dates it was used by the military?
Best wishes; Leo
