WTB early 1950 M38 shifter knob

Post by Radtech » Wed Dec 06, 2017 7:25 pm

I am looking for a nice early M38 screw on shifter knob for an M38 ser#10675.The serration around the knob of mine is nearly worn off.The shifter cane is threaded exactly like the one pictured in ORD9 SNLG740 1951.It is the one pictured on the left compared to a USGI push on knob on the right.

Rubber ones W/O threads could have serrations also. I may have one NOS Spare that I can spare. Check out the part numbers from Jeep and G-740/G-758. Many of the pics in TM's are from prototype and pre-production.
I always bought mine from Jeep.

The shaft is threaded and the push on knobs wobble because the threaded portion is much smaller diameter. It is the same shaft shown in ORD9 SNL G740 1951.

It is the same part number throughout all of the manuals.

644233? It was replaced by 931356 and they share the same ORD. No. 7374975. both are Push On Rubber.
644233 had the ribbed edge. Willys Drawing for the 644233 Knob will clear this up. Don't think you will find any history of a threaded 644233 Knob on the Willys Drawing for that Part Number.

I do know that the first 675 had threaded shaft.Everything on my 10675 is original from the factory except for the bell housing and starter MWO and the engine serial number is in the correct range.I have also found that the hood number 2365481 is correct.
