PU-6/TPS-1

Post by Greencom » Sun Nov 26, 2017 8:30 am

Found this on Craigslist, seems to be in great condition, has compression and spark. I need to clean up fuel tank, inside is rusty and fuel valve is stuck, it still had gas in it that was decades old, weird carb is clean, hope to fire it up after that. Puts out 28 volts dc at 400 watts and 120 v ac 400 cycles at 1400 watts, used to power a TPS-1 radar system. It was only $50 so I had to have it, found MFP marking of 1944 in magneto housing. It took me a while to figure out what the strange housing was for at the brush end, it has nothing to do with generating power but is part of a radar rotating spark system.

Here is a link to a PDF file for the manual in case you need it. The carb is strange and not fully explained but I finally figured it out.
