Looking for help identifying this motor found in a 1943 MB. Motor looks military but serial number starts with just M.... not MB. Head looks to be older number.

Any help?

What is the casting number for the block. It is located on the block where the oil pan meets the block on the distributor side of the engine. A casting number 638632 is pretty indicative of a WW2 block. I think the B is barely visible in the serial number. Looks like it was pretty lightly stamped. Block with that serial number would be pretty late war production I would think. Best wishes; Leo

Casting date too, its probably a clock block cast in the end of July 45, maybe dated 7-20?? ish Looks like an MB number to me too, Usually the B is very faint or not there at all.

Head is a different story, Either a MA or early willys car, dated 9-12 could be 1941. I would post pictures of the head in the MA prototype section, looks like it has 2 bolts for the water outlet.
