WTS: Early PE-95 - Reduced Again And Again

Post by TwoCar » Tue Dec 01, 2015 5:06 am

Hello.
It’s time to thin the herd with winter fast approaching and I don’t have enough room in the barn for everything.

I was told that this was an early PE-95. I searched the G and the internet for more information, but couldn’t find anything which leads me to think it’s pretty rare. It has a Ford 9n head, not sure about the block. The block’s serial number is bare, but the rebuild tag reads “New” in March of ’52. The PO owner said it ran (we’ve all heard that one before), but I haven’t had the time to try it myself. The engine is free. The metal is straight. It would look really nice after some soap and water. It looks like some of the gauges have been replaced. No hours meter. It looks like a document bag/folder was attached to the side at one time. No schematics on the back of the control door and it looks like someone used a wire wheel to clean off the data plate on the engine block and generator. It’s an Onan generator.

I can unbolt the trailer if buyer doesn’t want it.

I have no idea what its worth because I can’t find anything about them. Since I can’t list it here without a price, $1500 and open it to discussions and offers. Please PM me with any questions. Thanks!

Good day. Does the engine have a fuel pump or a mount for a fuel pump? It would be on the left side of the engine low on the block in front of the carb. If no pump some times it would have a block off plate with 2 bolts. Some times just a flat pad cast onto the block but not machined yet for a pump.

Hello Roger.

It is blocked off with flat plate, so it might be a truck or GP engine. I was told that if the fuel pump hole is not blocked or machined then it's a tractor engine.

Thanks!

Thanks. It could be a truck motor, a replacement motor or a motor supplied to a mfg. such as Onan and others, who knows. It would not have come in a Gp from Ford but the block and internal parts are usable and correct for use in a GP.

BTT - I lowered the price and open to offers. It needs to go before old man winter makes his first visit.

I have the TM with diagrams for this unit - or very similar PE-235 - if you need. Also have the Tm for the PE-95

I wonder why it was so overpowered for only 5KW. That set must weigh in at least 1500 lbs.

That in of itself may make it a tougher sell, but it sure looks good to me

I don't think it weighs any more than the PE-95s with Willys engines. The frame isn't as rigid as well. Whoever built the trailer, did a great job of balancing it. I can pick up the tongue with one hand and move it around my shop. It's in really really nice shape and can't believe there isn't any interest it. :o
