Been off of here for a while, working on my son's dodge cummins first gen project. It has been a year since I first posted on the forum. Got a lot done, and probably could have been completed by now.
I finally got a chance to get back to the genset, and installed the bracing, tool box and bolted the end frame down. I put new battery cables on it and installed electric guages from a PE95K for oil and temp. It's a cleaner install, and took a little time to figure out the differences in the wiring scheme.
The NOS start stop switch was missing the ground to the frame in the switch itself, so that was a tail chaser for a while until I looked at the old one... Pushing the button has the ammeter going the correct way, and it will fire off briefly on some fumes. There is 6 volts at the coil, so the NOS resistor works correctly too.
THe oil sending unit is fine, and works as well as the temp. I ran it on coleman fuel for test at low rpm as I don't have a muffler or antifreeze in it yet.. Stop switch relay didn't work, so will chase that down next.
I bought huge casters and am going to ditch the axle, it's just impossible to move around the garage as it is. I'll update when I can
First picture is showing it generating 50V AC at about 600 rpm, I have the gov carb link undone.....I can't go to the full 1800 yet until antifreeze is in it....

Re: 1945 PE95 update
Wow Mike. looks great bro. I'm just behind you as Im waiting for my engine block machining to be done. I need a control panel that looks as good as yours. You also gave me a great idea on wire loom colors. Though I have lots of colors I may just go plain as yours looks. I like the detail! Can't wait to get my motor back! Mike I can give you measurements on the original shipping crate bottom. It is all at Home depot except the sqare head lag bolts. it is super easy to make and easy to roll around on your castors. Just take a look on my previous post on this board. Matt

Re: 1945 PE95 update
Thanks for the kind offer Matt. I actually went to industrial casters, each having 750lbs of capacity. I mig welded them on the skid directly.
I used my engine hoist to lift the unit to cut off the junk axle and tubing. It looks much better. Got the belly pan, toolboxes painted and installed.
I filled up the antifreeze and all seemed well. I discovered that after a day, one of the repro rad clamps did not have enough clamping ability to stop a slow drip. I had to go to the modern 3/8" hex nut hose clamp. I tightened up the rest of the clamps and ran the unit at speed for the first time. Lots of smoke from sitting oil etc. All I have right now is a tiny lawnmower tank for test on gravity to carb, so short run. I went in house, and came out to find more antifreeze on the ground
Turns out its leaking out past the waterpump shaft and dripping out the relief cast in the body. I'll need to replace it. As the unit never was a runner, no way to know this until it was filled and running.
Oh well, I'll need to order next week. With all the work I did, should have just replaced it as part of the restoration. Word of advice for the rest of you guys

Re: 1945 PE95 update
Got the new water pump on it today. Filled it up and at least no leaks out the pump this time. Those repro hose clamps look good, but don't have enough clamping power it seems. I again had to put a worm drive on the upper pipe, as it kept dripping.
Ran it a while, and seems to be good. I got a pipe nipple for the exhaust pipe, and am going to try a round tractor muffler clamped to that. I think it will work, but may have to make a bend in the muffler inlet to line it up with hole in sheetmetal. Will try tomorrow....
